This is a review of the Mikro bass I wrote about a year ago. I still really like this bass and I played it the entire gig las weekend.
Super light body. I bought it because of back problems and it is great for that. Mahogany Body, Maple neck/rosewood fretboard, P & J pickups, 2 vol/1 tone. enclosed tuners, good finish. 28.6" scale. Nice and light, Big sound for a small bass. Not a toy. No extras unless you consider a 10 cent cable and the allen wrenches extras. With the P and J pickups, it will cover just about any sound. The P pickup is great! The J pickup is good, not great. My Mikro is nice and quiet even with the J pickup soloed. The tone control doesn't do much at all and will be the first thing I replace with one of a different value and taper. The tone control isn't much of an issue because you can get many different tones by blending the pickups in different ways. Set up was OK. I never expect a bass to be set up to my liking, especially from an internet store. The intonation was spot on but the A string had a buzz I had to address with a saddle adjustment. Only one fret had a sharp edge which was a quick fix with a couple swipes of a file. The paint is flawless (mine's red) and looks much better in person than any pictures I've seen on the web. The wood grain where they attached the headstock to the neck isn't matched up too well but, that's no big deal. After the potentiometers are replaced (no problems or noise, they just feel cheap) this should be a great, sturdy bass. The tuners hold tune well but the ratio is a bit off as small tweeks cause big difference in pitch. That would be the only reason I'd replace the tuners as they seem plenty sturdy. The bridge is a good design and seems more solid than other stamped bridges on more expensive, full size models. I never gig without a backup but this bass should hold up if you take care of it. I've been playing for about 25 years. Mostly country, rock, and contemporary Christian. I've owned many basses and have owned a music store and worked on many guitars. This Mikro is a great value at the current prices. If I was to nit-pick, I'd say I wished it came with real metal knobs instead of chromed plastic. Potentiometers could feel more solid as well. A gig bag would be nice. If you are looking for a short, light bass that isn't a toy and won't make a full grown man look goofy playing it, go for this bass! ![]() ![]() |

I've tried short scale and didn't carre for it, then again I didn't really like the regular long scale. I love the headless basses

Mikros are excellent basses for the money.
I bought one years ago for my then-girlfriend and I ended up playing it more than her. I was surprised at the quality considering the price I paid.
