I would find some place to sit down and play these before buying anymore jets, Dan, otherwise you are just wasting your cash chaseing after something for nothing.

Sunburst aside I think the Ibanez one is closer to a Danelectro DC-59 than a Ric.
Over here in the UK there are a lot of Tokai Ric copies floating about which say 'Rockinbetter' on the truss rod covers. Both them and the 'Indie'-branded ones are pretty faithful 330 copies, except without the 'R' tailpiece (obviously) but with toaster-top pickups. I think they have set necks, but I'm not 100% sure on that.
I guess they're decent enough guitars - the Indie company uses Trevor Wilkinson hardware and designs (if you can call copying someone else's design 'designing'), but the selling price is way too high in my opinion to make them worth dabbling with (except maybe for the 12-string 330).

I've seen some of them around the internet. It seems like they are all over the map as far as quality.

I agree. Some look just as good or better than a genuine Ric and others just make you laugh.
I'm going to Google the Tokai version. Never heard of those.

I know Rickenbacker are notoriously protectionist when it comes to their stuff - I actually got threatened with a ban from eBay for repeated attempts to sell a 70s Ibanez 4001 copy - so I'd guess the better copies aren't seen much in the USA.
There have been a few other budget brands doing Ric copies in the UK over the years. Most recently these have included Tanglewood, Encore and Jim Deacon amongst others whose names I can't remember. None of them seem to be around for long, so it's possible they get warned off either by John Hall & Co. or Rose-Morris (UK Ric distributor).
I think both the Tokai and Indie ones are made in China, so quality will be very hit and miss, I suspect.

Some of the of the older versions from the 60's-70's were built a lot better than the newer ones that are out there now. BTW, welcome Hellcat.

I've seen tons around the 'net and some of the copies go for good money. The cheaper ones really look cheap so, I never investigated them much.
