Here's another collaboration that I'm submitting to the Court of Public Opinion having already run it by GG. I made a demo vid of it only to present it here on the forum via YouTube without too much compression. It's "Unlisted" so it can only be viewed here. I don't know what your intentions are, Ray, but good luck with it if you decide to re-record it.

Default "Wedlock" demo re-visited

Removed, now reinstated, this was the first collaboration with GG. Vocally rough 'n' ready, this song, "Unlisted" on YouTube (as distinct from some of the same name), lent itself to a different genre than what was expected. Line Dance anyone?

I'll update the equipment I actually ended up with in the studio once I get it. I'm gonna be gone a week so, it will be painful knowing it's sitting here.

OK, first I upgraded the RAM on the PC. Next, due to the size of WAV files, I got a 500gb external drive.

The Zoom R8 is kind of the heart of the setup. I give it an 8. Check it out.

A Behringer C-1 handles mic duty. Another 8.

After trying, and returning several headphones, I actually liked the cheapest set the best. Its great isolation and flat response, along with light weight, won me over. a solid 8

I bought the lower-priced Studiophile monitors. I rate them a 6 or 7, just because I prefer mixing on headphones. When I'm done with the mix, I also run through my PA speakers because that's what the tracks will be run through.

Since my XVamp bit the dust, I got another guitar effects unit, although the R8 has decent amp models. I give it a 7. Most of the patches are metal tones, but they can be edited.

I also picked up a sub, new mixer, and a power amp for live use.

OK, I'm gonna update my scores.
The Zoom R8 is a 10. It's amazing how much it can do.
The monitors get a 4 for now, as they are getting serviced.

From left to right-MidiControl keyboard, The little grey box is the Yamaha QY100, which is a cool machine too, I just use it for the sounds. Next is the Asus PC, you can see an external hard drive poking out, the mic is in front of the R8, which is front of a computer monitor that's just there so I don't have to stare at a tiny screen. Next up are the headphones, and a Behringer Xenyx 1222USB mixer. The shelf has an EQ and a cassette master deck that hardly get used. Peeking out from under the desk are the ZoomG1XN and a Digitech BP80.

Here's an example of recording piecemeal using the Zoom R8. This guy makes it look easy anyway. I'm thinking the USB interface with a computer may make the process more user-friendly...but that's just the opinion of a lousy guitarist like yours truly.
