I have a Multi Kord Console/pedal steel.
These were made by the Harlan Brothers and were the first actual pedal steels built. They didn't patent the design because they just wanted the technology to be developed and Gibson patented their pedal steel shortly after. The idea behind the steel was to have different tunings available in a single neck instead of having to have multiple necks, although the changer is really smooth and achieves what we consider to be the sound of a pedal steel.
My Multi-Kord is a six string version with four pedals. You can set up the changer to do just about anything you want. I don't know how to play it very well and am still experimenting with different tunings. I was fortunate enough to get a hold of a gentleman who worked for the Harlan Brothers as a teacher and demonstrator who has told me how he would set it up. I'll get around to posting pictures of mine eventually.
