Starting out as a student guitar, gibson has come a long way with their popular Jr.s'. 1) What made them so popular?
2) Are they really worth what the collectors are paying for them?
3) What are the differences beside pickups with New vs old?
Remember the Jr's consist of the Melodymaker, the LP Jr. and the SG Jr.
Lets here your thought and opions.

The one I had was loaded with P100 pups...It was one of the worst sonding guitars I have ever owned.

Was this one of the newer ones?

The P-100s are stacked, right? P-90 sized humbuckers? Or am I wrong?

I love the Juniors and I don't even really like Gibson products. The simplicity is neat. A slab body with usually a single p'up thrown in there, a volume and a tone. That and the SGs look killer!

I got it about 10 yrs ago. The P100 is a humbucking style P90 that has gotten many horrible reviews. I guess changing the pickups would have been the thing to do, but someone offered me an original 63 Fender Bandmaster for it. It looked beautiful and played great, but sounded bad.

Pfft. I would have taken the Bandmaster, too.
I was just offered a ('68?) Bandmaster for my Jaguar.

What were the vintage ones like? Why are they in such demand?

Billie Jo Armstrong of Greenday has been using and promoting them.

Yeah, he seems to swear by them. He gets a nice sound but I wonder how much is the amp. I've seen some P-100 demos and I think that they sound nice. You know, for a Gibson product. :p
